Despite the myth, victims were not walled up in the closes and left to starve.
Although ghosts can still be seen and eerie sounds ring through out the dark close.

It is filled with twists and turns, illusions and danger, creatures both helpful and full of deceit. At the centre of the Labyrinth is a large castle that belongs to Jareth, King of Goblins.

Located in Goblin City, the castle stands over all the surrounding lands, and can be seen from all over the Labyrinth. Though he typically does so through the use of the crystals, Jareth is seen on occasion sitting on a window ledge, or standing out on a balcony, looking out over his subjects.

The goblins spend much of their time in the castle rather than in the city, so the streets frequently appear empty other than a few chickens running around. Around the city stands a large wall with two doors, one inside the other. The first door is guarded by a sleeping goblin, while the second is guarded by Humongous. Underneath the city there are tunnels that connect to caves inside Gringotts in London.

There are trees that talk and with branches they will push people off their horses, and thorny bushes which will open to let people in but close and leave people stuck inside. There are even creeks which turn unwary travelers into frogs if drunk from, and even sorcerers live somewhere in the depths of the forest.
